How to share a Google Drive file or folder via QR Code Sharing for Google Drive Add on

Please notes: QR codes will have a scan limit unless you purchase the addon for unlimited scans

1. Download add on

  • You can install via click on this link https://workspace.google.com/marketplace/app/qr_code_file_sharing_for_drive/878471720006 and click the Install button
  • Or you go to your Google Drive, click on plus button in the right side
  • Enter QR Code Drive and search add on
  • Install the add on QR Code Sharing for Google Drive

    2. Choose Google Drive file or folder for sharing
  • Sign in Google Drive and choose file or folder you want to share. For example, you want to share Job offer letter Google Docs file. Click on QR Code Sharing File icon on the right sidebar

3. Get link for sharing Google Drive File or Folder

  • Right-click on file or folder and choose Share
  • Choose Anyone with the link
  • Choose Role (Viewer, Commenter or Editor)
    Viewer: Anyone on the internet with the link can view
    Commenter: Anyone on the internet with the link can comment
    Editor: Anyone on the internet with the link can edit

    4. Generate QR Code
  • Click on button Copy link to copy link of File or Folder
  • Paste to the textbox QR Code Sharing URL using Ctrl+V on Window or Command+V on MacOS. You don’t need to paste again when changing Role
  • Click on the button Generate QRCode to generate QR Code
    5. Customize QR Code
  • A website page will be shown up for customizing QR Code
  • You can change QR Code’s size
  • You can also insert your branded logo, image into middle of QR Code. For example, you want to insert Facebook logo, please click Choose File and choose Facebook logo
  • Facebook logo will be inserted into QR Code

    6. Scan QR Code to access Google Drive
  • After that, you send this QR Code to your friends, partners or family. They will scan this QR Code by mobile devices and access QR Code with role you allow
    6.1. Share File or Folder with Role “Viewer”
  • User scans qr code to view the document. They can not edit it

    6.2. Share File or Folder with Role “Editor”
  • User scans qr code can edit the document. For example, google docs or google sheets file

    6.3. Share File or Folder with Role “Commenter”
  • User scans qr code can add comments to the document
